I liked everything about The VIG, from the turkey burger to the old fashioned cocktail to the service staff to the atmosphere. This place is busy and bustling, but still worked for a long-time-no-see catch up with a friend.

Every now and then you randomly pick a place to eat while traveling that turns out to be a true gem. That was our experience at The Vig. We chose it due to its proximity to Second City, and made a reservation (which I recommend - the place was heaving when we arrived). We got there early, Ainsley at the door (graciously but begrudgingly) gave us a few suggestions of places to grab a beer while we waited for our table, since we didn't want to stand in their three-deep crowd at their bar. Got seated and Harley our waitress was terrific - great menu suggestions, great service. Food was fantastic - tuna poke tacos, Thai tuna, lobster deviled eggs - loved 'em all. Great craft beer selection, and their old fashioned is made from scratch and fantastic. Even if we don't go back to Second City on our next Chicago trip, we'll go back to The Vig. UPDATE: Ate here again on our last trip - again, great service and great food. But I noticed a 3% service fee on our bill when we got it – I asked our waitress about it and she said it was being added because of rising food costs. Kind of sneaky to add this cost this way instead of just raising prices on the menu. Our waitress said she could have taken it off if I had asked before I paid the bill. So word of warning – ask them to remove the service fee when you get your check.

Great in all the ways that matter. Service is lightning fast, food was delicious, and atmosphere is lively without being overbearing. Outdoor seating is very nice.

Happy hour was delicious. We had Moscow mules , burgers, and chicken sandwich. The fries are probably the best restaurant fries I've had in my life. Taste like real homemade fries

Great spot / atmosphere. Decent food / drinks but the vibe is 10/10. Great girls night out spot (prob a bit too loud for a first date spot). Definitely recommend the spreads - you get to choose 3 of 9 spreads / dips.
